Richlam® is the crystalline waterproofing brand under Richlam Development Group, offering a full range of integral waterproofing and surface-applied crystalline technologies, including waterproofing admixtures, crystalline sealers, and crystalline admixtures for mortars. Available in both water-based and powder form, these products are applied either integrally or topically and are engineered to enable self-healing concrete, where no cracks mean no leaks. The result: concrete structures that are sealed from within, with waterproofing durability equal to the structure’s lifespan.

Rooted in biomimetic innovation, Richlam®’s sealing systems represent one of the most mature commercial applications of self-healing concrete technology. The product line includes Richlam300, a penetrating waterproof concrete sealer, and Richlam400, a crystalline waterproofing coating. While differing in form, both share the same crystallization waterproofing mechanism, penetrating the surface and forming a dense crystalline layer that seals cracks up to 0.2–0.4 mm and enhances both waterproofing and anti-corrosion performance.

Applied directly to the surface, these spray-on waterproofing chemicals for concrete penetrate deeply and crystallize within the structure. Although surface-applied, they effectively transform the concrete itself into a waterproof barrier. Unlike traditional membranes, Richlam®’s waterproofing layer does not delaminate or degrade over time—earning its reputation as a “skin-like protective layer that grows with the concrete.”

Richlam® Crystalline Sealers and Coatings

Richlam® is globally recognized for its biomimetic self-healing concrete technologies. Inspired by the way bone tissue regenerates, Richlam® integrates crystalline growth factors with the concrete matrix to form an active self-repairing system. Each Richlam® product contains highly active nano-silica-based agents that penetrate deeply and react with moisture and alkalinity to initiate crystallization. These agents are hydrophilic, nano-sized, and alkali-activated—enabling deeper penetration and stronger, faster crystalline sealing from within.

According to the Richlam® Technical Center, the internal alkalinity of concrete is 360 times higher than the surface. This allows Richlam®’s penetrating sealers for concrete to activate deep within the structure, forming dense interlocking crystals at cracks and pores. These crystals heal cracks, block water pathways, and dramatically improve concrete impermeability and structural integrity.

Compared to conventional products on the market, Richlam®’s nano-crystalline formulation delivers superior reactivity and deeper penetration—up to 30 mm—creating a stronger, longer-lasting crystalline waterproofing layer at the surface level.

How Richlam® Creates Smart Waterproofing Systems

How Richlam®’s Crystalline Waterproofing Coating Works:
  1. Crystalline sealing material penetrates concrete’s surface via cracks, pores, and voids and enters a dormant state when dry.

  2.  When water enters cracks, hydrophilic crystalline agents are activated by the alkaline environment and react with cement hydration products to form new crystals, sealing cracks up to 0.4 mm.

  3.  Once sealed, water cannot pass through, but vapor can still escape—maintaining breathability and preventing internal moisture accumulation.

  4.  Upon drying, the crystalline system returns to dormancy, ready to re-activate if water is reintroduced.

  5.  This cycle of dormancy-activation-crystallization repeats indefinitely, enabling the material to self-heal new cracks over the life of the structure.
