Richlam® Self-Healing System Delivers Durable Waterproofing for UAE Utility Tunnel Project
Richlam® has supplied its integral crystalline waterproofing admixtures to a major utility tunnel project in the UAE, supporting critical infrastructure beneath a new coastal city development. The project required long-term resistance to both chloride-rich groundwater and extreme thermal cycling.
Richlam® 200, a high-performance self-healing waterproofing admixture for concrete, was incorporated directly into the mix used for underground tunnel segments. With internal crystallization triggered by moisture ingress, the system allows microcracks up to 0.8 mm to seal automatically.
“This is exactly the kind of harsh environment where Richlam® technology performs best—no membranes, no maintenance,” said the project’s materials consultant.
The successful deployment highlights Richlam®’s growing presence in the MENA region and reinforces the demand for smart, maintenance-free waterproofing.
